چکیده

Maximum likelihood decoding algorithms for Gaussian MIMO linear channels are considered. Linearity over the field of real numbers facilitates the design of maximum likelihood decoders using number theoretic tools for searching the closest lattice point. These decoders are collectively referred to as sphere decoders in the literature. In this paper, a fresh look at this class of decoding algorithms is taken. In particular, two novel algorithms are developed. The first algorithm is inspired by the Pohst enumeration strategy and is shown to offer a significant reduction in complexity compared to the Viterbo-Boutros sphere decoder. The connection between the proposed algorithm and the stack sequential decoding algorithm is then established. This connection is utilized to construct the second algorithm which can also be viewed as an application of the Schnorr-Euchner strategy to maximum likelihood decoding. Aided with a detailed study of pre-processing algorithms, a variant of the second algorithm is developed and shown to offer significant reductions in the computational complexity compared to all previously proposed sphere decoders with a near maximum likelihood detection performance. This claim is supported by intuitive arguments and simulation results in many relevant scenarios.

A novel soft information algorithm for closest point search in lattices with Tanner graph representations

An efficient, low-complexity, soft-information detector for multiple input multiple output channels and lattice constellations was devised, based on Tanner graph representations of lattices. Due to the coding gain associated with a lattice, structural relations exist between certain lattice points, which can be associated via an equivalence relation for detection purposes. The algorithm can gen...

Change Point Estimation of the Stationary State in Auto Regressive Moving Average Models, Using Maximum Likelihood Estimation and Singular Value Decomposition-based Filtering

In this paper, for the first time, the subject of change point estimation has been utilized in the stationary state of auto regressive moving average (ARMA) (1, 1). In the monitoring phase, in case the features of the question pursue a time series, i.e., ARMA(1,1), on the basis of the maximum likelihood technique, an approach will be developed for the estimation of the stationary state’s change...

Approximating the step change point of the process fraction non conforming using genetic algorithm to optimize the likelihood function

Control charts are standard statistical process control (SPC) tools for detecting assignable causes. These charts trigger a signal when a process gets out of control but they do not indicate when the process change has begun. Identifying the real time of the change in the process, called the change point, is very important for eliminating the source(s) of the change. Knowing when a process has ...

1 3 A ug 2 00 5 Layered Orthogonal Lattice Detector for Two Transmit Antenna

A novel detector for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications is presented. The algorithm belongs to the class of the lattice detectors, i.e. it finds a reduced complexity solution to the problem of finding the closest vector to the received observations. The algorithm achieves optimal maximum-likelihood (ML) performance in case of two transmit antennas, at the same time keeping a c...
